When installing using installshield and you get the Error 1305: ‘Error reading from file’ during installation.

This Error indicates a problem with Permissions regarding the referenced folder. The easiest way to fix a problem with these folders is to reset permissions on the directories in question. This can be done manually by comparing the permissions on the folder to another installation of Windows with the correct permissions set on the folder in question.
I used the “Take Ownership” program to the install folder located “C:UsersMrBigglesAppDataLocalDownloaded Installations{F95B1A69-B394-40B7-A9DA-A7A4696436DB}” Then I retried the install, note that the folder will not always be the same name, you will see the correct folder name in the installer error.

In this case, resetting the permissions for each folder is the best solution; starting with the C:ProgramData folder first and working through the rest of the folders, attempting to install VIPRE again after the permissions of each folder have been successfully reset.
CAUSE
Permissions for these folders are often corrupted via general computer use. Regular events like software installation, Windows updates and even manual modification of files can cause the permissions of Windows folders to change or be corrupted.
